Tony Goodison standing in front of a 3D rainbow grid, similar to the holodeck on Star Trek. He is pointing behind his shoulder at the front and back cover of Robot Revelations and looking to the side. There is a hand holding an iPhone with Robot Revelations displayed on Spotify. The image is treated with a rainbow gradient and various “glitch” effects are used to reinforce the digital or sci-fi theme.

ABOUT THE ALBUM

“With the launch of “Robot Revelations,” the Science Fiction People have truly landed amongst the stars. During the 30-minute album, recording artists Tony Goodison, Jan de la Cruz, David Oppong, Colleen Ashmore, and Mark Bedford propel listeners through an interstellar journey of sonic reflection on humanity and contemporary life.

This album contains layers of interweaving resonant and reverberant sound particles that envelop and pull listeners in. At times, the subharmonics are abrupt, jarring, and welcomely abrasive, simultaneously trembling your core while patiently making you wait for the next low-end blast. The fuzzed-out synths and glitched-out production push and pull listeners along one incredible interstellar journey with enough high-end sizzle to keep you right in the present moment. Electrifying and booming synthetic beats roar out of the speakers while mesmerizing synths provide a perfect backdrop for a sci-fi-inspired album. There are few moments of “passive listening”; these artists know how to leave you wanting more. In a word, the album’s IMMERSIVE.”

Douglas Mitchell - Wyrd Canada

One area where the album consistently delivers is its unpredictability, which was delightfully welcome in and amongst my stack of overly unremarkable albums still left in my “to review” pile.

[After listening to the album] I can only imagine that Dr. Eleanor “Ellie” Arroway had a similar experience after awakening on the floor of the space pod in Contact: ‘I… had an experience… I can’t prove it, I can’t even explain it, but …everything that I am tells me that it was real!’
